Starting in May 2025, American Airlines is expanding its flight offerings to some of Italy’s most sought-after destinations, including Rome, Naples, and Venice.
With more options than ever, travelers can plan their Italian summer getaway with ease, whether they’re looking to soak in Rome’s historic charm, unwind on the Amalfi Coast, or explore the enchanting canals of Venice.
Building on the success of its new Naples (NAP) service launched this year, American Airlines will become the only airline offering nonstop flights from Chicago (ORD) to Naples. This route provides U.S. travelers with unrivaled access to the heart of southern Italy, a region celebrated for its vibrant cuisine, ancient ruins, and scenic coastlines. The daily service will begin on May 6, 2025, aboard a Boeing 787-8, ensuring a comfortable and convenient journey to Italy’s sunny shores.
In a first for the airline, American will also introduce a nonstop route from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Venice (VCE) on June 5, 2025. This addition complements the existing Philadelphia (PHL) to Venice route, offering easy one-stop connections from over 230 destinations across North America. For travelers eager to explore Venice’s world-renowned canals, architecture, and art, this new route opens up a seamless and straightforward path.
For those captivated by the allure of Rome, American Airlines has expanded its options to the Eternal City with additional summer service. The previously announced Miami (MIA) to Rome (FCO) route will now launch in early June, providing even more flexibility for travelers. Philadelphia will also see increased connectivity to Rome, with a second daily flight to FCO starting June 5. With these expanded services, American Airlines will operate flights from Rome to more U.S. destinations than any other U.S. airline, giving passengers more flexibility to choose the flight schedule that best fits their plans.
Starting November 4, travelers can book these flights on American’s website, aa.com, or through the airline’s mobile app, making it easy to start planning that dream Italian getaway.
Beyond Italy, American Airlines is enhancing its European network in collaboration with joint business partners. In 2025, travelers can enjoy more flights from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) and Miami (MIA) to London (LHR), while Chicago (ORD) will see a new direct service to Madrid (MAD). Through these partnerships, passengers will have seamless access to over 175 European destinations, offering them the convenience of creating multi-destination itineraries across Europe.
In addition to these Italian routes, American Airlines is set to resume flights to Edinburgh, Scotland (EDI), while expanding service to Athens, Greece (ATH), and Milan, Italy (MXP).
With these new connections, American Airlines is reinforcing its commitment to providing U.S. travelers with diverse European travel options, making it easier than ever to explore both familiar cities and new adventures.
Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a beach lover, or simply in search of “la dolce vita,” American Airlines’ expanded routes to Italy and Europe promise a summer filled with endless travel possibilities. Now is the perfect time to start planning next year’s adventures, with Italy beckoning as the ultimate summer destination.
