Fashion photographer and Bollywood producer Atul Kasbekar slammed the Ahmedabad crowd and called it ‘rubbish’ after team India‘s loss against Australia at the World Cup 2023 final match held at the Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19.
On Sunday night, he took to X and said that team India needed the crowd to boost their confidence just the way people cheered for Indian players at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium during 2011 World Cup.
“Last word. The Ahmedabad crowd was rubbish. Need proper fans inside a stadium instead of fly by night pretenders. Like the amazing people at Wankhede. Proper fans. Cheered the team on and especially Shami post the dropped catch. Chanted his name non stop. Boosted him and the team. Energised them. Lifted them when the Kiwis were looking ominous. Shami got 7 eventually. Last time out in Mumbai for a WC final, we won. Choose ur venues wisely,” he tweeted.

He also lauded the efforts and performance of the team.

“Thought I’d wake up shattered. Oddly enough, didn’t. Team India gave us some of the best cricket we’ve seen in ODIs ever. Didn’t happen last game. But massively proud of the men in blue. Thank u for giving it your all lads. There’ll be other days. #WeMove #BleedBlue Forever,” he wrote.
India lost the toss and was asked to bat first. They managed to put up a score of 240 expecting the wicket to turn slower in the second innings. However, the Indian side, after sketching up brilliant performances throughout the tournament, gave into the pressure as it lost the momentum in the final. Australia won the match by 6 wickets.
