BCCI has denied permission to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) for participating in a T20 tournament in Namibia. CAB was set to send its team on Namibia tour for a T20 tournament. They had also announced a 16-member squad for the tournament.
However, BCCI did not approve the permission to the association to send its players for the tournament as it features teams from other countries. According to rumours, the BCCI decision has not gone too well with CAB as they were getting ready with all the formalities for the tour.

BCCI denied permission to CAB for the Namibia tour as the tournament features teams from other countries. Lahore Qalandars, which plays in Pakistan Super League, is one such team who will be part of the tournament. A CAB official said that the permission would have been granted if it was a 50-over tournament.
“Because it’s a T20 competition with teams from other countries participating, and will be held in a league format, the Board didn’t give the go ahead. The CAB was told that had it been a 50-overs-aside tournament, participation would’ve been approved then,” a CAB source was quoted as saying by Telepraph India.
Indian players are not allowed to take part in overseas T20 tournaments to maintain the exclusivity of the Indian Premier League. Now, Bengal Cricket will need to change its schedule after BCCI’s decision.

Indian players are not allowed to participate in foreign T20 tournaments. However, such a rule is not followed by Cricket Boards of other countries like Australia, New Zealand, England, West Indies, and South Africa among others. However, while the men cricketers are denied permission, women cricketers can participate in foreign T20 tournaments.
