For today’s horse racing tips, our analyst James Boyle looks at the flat racing meeting at Kempton with three selections now online.

17:30 Kempton – Chalk Mountain – 1pt @ 14/1

Chalk Mountain seems to be a bit better on the All-Weather and hopefully returning to this surface will help him. Prior to a poor run at Sandown when last seen, he had placed in a couple of handicaps here and at Lingfield, but both came over a mile and he didn’t get home in either.

I think 7f at this track will be perfect for him, he travels like he could be better than a mark in the low 60’s and won his sole race after 173 days off, so a couple of months on the sidelines could end up being a plus. At 14/1, I’m happy enough to take a punt on him winning this.

19:00 Kempton – Green Team – 1pt @ 12/1

Green Team is a high-risk selection as he finished tailed-off last time and hasn’t performed too well more often than not since joining Ian Williams. On the other hand, he’s rated to do better at some point and his last start was in a valuable, competitive heritage handicap at York.

This is a significantly weaker contest and there were some shades of promise in his performance at Ascot in July, where he finished third behind Real Dream off 4lbs higher. There could be more to come over two-miles if the drop in grade does the trick and any double-figured price is worth a go.

19:30 Kempton – Intricate Pillar – 1pt @ 16/1

Intricate Pillar is yet to do much in handicaps but the only time she got to run over a mile was also her sole start on turf and there were some well-handicapped runners in opposition. She didn’t show what she’s capable of and I wouldn’t be putting it down to the trip.

All of her other racecourse outings have been here over 7f, including a novice win. Both handicap attempts led to mediocre racing positions in which she looked tapped for toe early enough and I just wonder whether the mile could unlock the door. From a nice draw, she’s worth chancing.
