A POPULAR US clothing brand has announced the shock closure of its flagship Scottish store.
The fashion retailer opened its first branch in Scotland in Union Square, Aberdeen in 2010.
Hollister, a well-known fashion brand under the ownership of Abercrombie & Fitch has been a popular destination for shoppers in the Granite City.
However, it has now been confirmed that the brand – which occupies a unit on the ground floor of the centre, is set to close.
The closure is set to take place at the end of February, but an exact date is yet to be confirmed.
A statement provided to the Press and Journal, from Abercrombie & Fitch said: “We can confirm we will be closing our Union Square Hollister store at the end of February.”
However, the retailer has indicated that they are looking to maintain a presence in Aberdeen.
A further statement said: “We believe stores matter and we are exploring new store opportunities in the UK, including in Aberdeen, to provide a great shopping experience for our customers. ”
The Hollister store currently remains open between 9am and 8pm.
Hollister also currently has an outlet at the popular Braehead Shopping Centre, in Glasgow.
Known for it’s summer-style clothing, and unique interior, the Glasgow store sits on the top floor of the shopping centre.
With the closure of the unit in Aberdeen, there are only three remaining stores across the country.
The branch in Braehead, alongside stores in Buchanan Galleries, Glasgow, and George Street, Edinburgh.
