While fans worldwide and celebrities mourn the passing of the legendary rock icon Tina Turner, the last photo ever taken of ‘The Best’ singer has resurfaced online. The legendary performer celebrated a significant milestone in the last photo she shared before her passing. In the snapshot, tweeted in March 2021, the “Proud Mary” singer appeared cozy at home, donning black pants and a matching sweater, with her hair down and a makeup-free look.
Turner smiled and raised her fists in front of a large TV screen playing “Tina,” HBO’s documentary about her extraordinary life. Captioning the photo, she expressed her excitement about the film: “I am so excited to share this movie with you – seeing the concert scenes made me relive some of the proudest moments of my life. I simply had to sing along and dance around my living room”, she said according to Page Six.
Reflecting on her illustrious six-decade career in the documentary, Turner questioned the concept of pride: “Some people say the life that I lived and the performances that I gave, the appreciation… I should be proud of that. I am. But when do you stop being proud? I mean, when do you, how do you bow out slowly? Just go away?”
The great Tina Turner passed away at her home in Ksnacht, near Zurich, Switzerland, at the age of 83, after a long battle with illness. A statement on her official Instagram conveyed the deep sadness of her passing and celebrated her enduring impact on the world:
“With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly.”
Following the news of her death, tributes poured in from celebrities such as Magic Johnson, Cher, Beyonc, and more. Mariah Carey, in an Instagram post, described Turner as a legendary, iconic, and diva superstar, emphasizing her incredible talent, while Nicki Minaj expressed her admiration, recognizing Turner as a legend and icon. Jennifer Hudson paid tribute to Turner’s indomitable spirit and resilience, acknowledging her as the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll and expressing gratitude for the legacy she leaves behind.
Turner’s impact extended beyond music, as she also made her mark in the fashion world. Survived by her husband, Erwin Bach, and two of her four children, Tina Turner leaves behind an extraordinary legacy that will forever be remembered and celebrated.
