The Dayton regional will set their final tonight in The Basketball Tournament (TBT), as Tuesday night will see the elimination of three teams in the 64-team sprint for $1 million. Let’s take a closer look at the four teams playing in Dayton, as well as a West Virginia clash teed up for tonight’s TBT slate.

Men of Mackey vs. The Money Team, 7:00 PM EST
Men of Mackey, the Purdue alumni team, will look to make their fourth straight TBT trip their best yet, starting with an upset tonight. They defeated Mid-American Unity easily in Game 1, with Kelsey Barlow leading the way with a game-high 22 points.
Regarding the Floyd Mayweather Jr. backed The Money Team, the region’s top seed had more difficulty than anticipated defeating Athletics Miami on Sunday, with no player other than Jimmer Fredette (29) managing to score in double figures. While Fredette might be sufficient to advance them to the quarterfinals, I believe the more seasoned Men of Mackey will give them trouble tonight as they key in on the NBA player and make the rest of the team (attempt to) beat them.

Herd That vs. Best Virginia, 8:00 PM EST
The West Virginia alumni team took care of business on Sunday, dominating their clash in the first round by 30 points and moving on to the second round for the second consecutive year. Best Virginia is the top seed in this area for good reason; they are a nightmare to deal with on the boards, led by the deadly tandem of Kevin Jones and John Flowers, who dominated in their Game 1 performances.
The Marshall alumni team, Herd That, has high hopes for this tournament after having a strong 2021 experience, and with James Kelly back this year, they are even more talented than last. With 17 points in Game 1, Justin Johnson led all scorers, and I anticipate a performance along those lines tonight.
Unfortunately for Marshall fans, however, I think the bench on West Virginia is one of the best TBT, and we see that make the difference tonight.

Red Scare vs. Golden Eagles, 9:00 PM EST
In their opening round games on Sunday, both the Red Scare and Golden Eagles barely got by, winning by an average of five points in games that were even closer. Trey Landers and Darrell Davis are back this year for the Red Scare, the Dayton alumni team, as they try to make the most of playing on their home court, potentially through to the championship game.
The Golden Eagles, a Marquette alumni team, made a strong run last season and won the TBT championship in 2020, and with most of their roster back will be one of the tougher outs in the competition this year.
