Tottenham hope to continue their improvement under Antonio Conte this season after finishing in the top four of the Premier League last season. They have a tough task in their opening game, however, as they come up against Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton.
Southampton, too, are looking to do much better than last term, having finished 15th in the table, and can make a strong statement with a win on Saturday.
Tottenham the favourites to get the win in north London, with bet365 offering odds of 1/3 (1.33).
Southampton are big underdogs for the three points at 15/2 (8.5) with the draw offered at 9/2 (5.5).
Tottenham striker Harry Kane is the favourite to open the scoring in this game at odds of 11/4 (3.75), while Son Heung-min is 4/1 (5.0) to get the first goal.
Adam Armstrong is the lowest-priced Southampton player to score first at 12/1 (13.0) to get the opening goal and Che Adams is set at the same price.
It has been a summer of great change for both teams.
Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Djed Spence, Ivan Perisic, Clement Lenglet and Fraser Forster all were signed by the north London side.
However, Antonio Conte’s team will be without Brazilian forward Richarlison because he is suspended, while Bissouma may not be able to feature for the home team.
Gavin Bazunu. Sekou Mara. Romeo Lavia, Joe Aribo and Armel Bella Kotchap all arrived at Southampton over the course of the summer window as they hope to put in a better campaign than they did last term.
Both teams have scored in each of the last six matches between these two teams and you can get odds of 19/20 (1.95) for that bet to come through this time, too.
