This week’s Fox Sports Lab NBA finds host Jack Heverin and Jaymz Clements of CODE Bet and NBA Straya joined by two-time NBA champion Sasha Vujacic to discuss whether the Celtics can do the impossible against the Heat.
Is it fanciful, asks Heverin, for the Celtics claw their way back from a 1-3 deficit?
“It’s 1-3 now Jack,” argues Clements. “It was 0-3, that would be fanciful! No one’s ever done it! 0-149 in NBA history down 3-0.”
“But the thing is, nobody has been more well positioned to come back. Basically the Celtics went down 0-3 then went ‘Well, I took that personally’.”
Adds Clements, “Can they come back from 0-3 down? Yes. Will they? Probably not. Because it’s just so hard.”
“This,” he says of Boston, “is the number two defence, the number two offence all season, so no one’s been better positioned to do it. But to get past this Miami team three more times?”
But there’s one big roadblock according to Clements.
“You’ve got he work experience kid coach! Joey Muzz. Joe Mazzulla,” he exclaims, “up against the master Erik Spoelstra. Jimmy Butler on one side. How are you gonna do it? You’ve got no hope Boston!”
As for the Heat, Vujacic outs it down to the Heat’s ongoing success to the organisation.
“I’m a big believer that it’s the system that they installed. They know what it takes to win games they choose their players in order to bring in high basketball IQ and players that know how to play together and most importantly how to play as a team.”
“Jimmy is incredible,” adds Vujacic, “and once again he’s showing everybody his leadership is on another level and everyone is following in his footsteps.”
“They are a special team.”
