A Nigeria-born professional American footballer, Morotoluwa Ojomo, has visited President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.
Ojomo, who plays defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles of the United States National Football League, made this known in a post shared across his social media platforms on Monday.
The 23-year-old, popularly known as Moro Ojomo, said he discussed the possibility of American football in Nigeria with Tinubu.
“Grateful to be celebrated and welcomed by the President of my birth country after winning the Super Bowl,” he said. “Had a great conversation regarding the future of American football in Nigeria. Thank you for the time President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
According to a post by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Ojomo, who visited the president with his family, has “plans to build a sports academy in Nigeria.”
The NiDCOM Chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, on X, applauded Ojomo for his passion for Nigeria.
“This is inspiring to young generations, to encourage you that, this is home, home will always be home. No matter how you excel abroad, home will always be home,” Dabiri-Erewa said.
Ojomo was part of the Philadelphia Eagles who defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 at the Super Bowl final played at the Caesars Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana on February 10.
