The Dresden Monarchs have signed former Central Michigan/South Carolina defensive back Devonni Reed for the 2024 German Football League season.
The 5’11”, 200 pound 25 year old native of Detroit, Michigan most recently played for the Reyes de Jalisco in Mexico’s Liga de Futbol Americano (LFA). He arrived in Mexico following a five year college career which saw him play for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks in 2022 when he appeared in 11 games, making seven starts. He was credited with 39 tackles with 1.5 tackles for loss and one pass breakup. From 2017 to 2021, he played for the Central Michigan Chippewas in the Mid America Conference. As a redshirt senior in 2021, Reed earned second-team All-MAC honors from the league’s coaches and Phil Steele helping Central Michigan to a 9-4 record. He started all 12 games in the regular season at safety recording 74 tackles with 3.5 tackles for loss, a pair of interceptions, six pass breakups, a sack, a blocked kick and a fumble recovery for the Chippewas.
Throughout his Central Michigan career he played in 54 games starting in 48. He finished with 325 tackles including nine tackles for loss and a sack.
