EX-NFL quarterback Kevin Hogan is getting another chance to shine on the football field.
The former Stanford standout will play for the UFL’s San Antonio Brahmas, according to reports.
Hogan, 31, is joining the Brahmas after a wrist injury sidelined the team’s starting quarterback, Chase Garbers, for the rest of the season per UFL reporter James Larsen.
However, backup QB Quinten Dormady is expected to start for San Antonio in the Week 4 matchup with the Michigan Panthers, according to Larsen.
Hogan began his pro career when the Kansas City Chiefs drafted him in the fifth round of the 2016 draft.
He never got a chance to play for the Chiefs, though.
Kansas City released the Virginia native before the start of the 2016 NFL season.
The quarterback then signed with the Cleveland Browns.
Hogan made eight appearances, including one start, for the Browns over the next two seasons.
He had to wait to get on the field again until 2021 when he came out for a few snaps while with the Tennessee Titans.
Overall, he threw for 621 yards, four touchdowns, and seven interceptions on 101 attempts across those nine games – while earning $2.69 million.
Hogan’s most recent NFL involvement took place in December 2022 when he returned to Tennessee to join the Titans’ practice squad before they released him a month later.
The UFL has just started its inaugural season, coming after Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson‘s XFL league merged with the USFL.
The campaign kicked off on March 30 with a matchup between the 2023 XFL champion Arlington Renegades and the 2023 USFL champion Birmingham Stallions.
The Stallions ended up taking a 27-14 win.
NFL legend and Colorado Buffaloes head coach appeared at the game.
And he lauded the UFL for what the league has been trying to achieve.
“[The] Rock and Dany [Garcia] are doing a wonderful job giving people hope (and) keeping the dreams alive,” Sanders said.
“[When] I walked out onto this field, it was electric.”
“I’m loving it. It’s wonderful.”
The ex-Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboys star added: “The fans are getting a close-up on how things really are and I love it. It’s exciting.”
Eight teams compete in the UFL during the 2024 season, divided into the USFL and XFL conferences.
Each team will play 10 games during the regular season.
Meanwhile, the playoffs – which start on June 8 – will consist of four teams.
